Akram Ati started painting in 2006, when he joined the Fine Art Faculty in Herat. Akram developed his own technique to paint with mud and stones. His subjects are mostly traditional such as Afghan village sceneries, people’s everyday life, the Afghan national game “Buzkashi” or the Dervishes whirl. Akram’s mud and stone paintings were exhibited in Herat and Kabul with much support of the US Embassy, as well as on the touring exhibition of Kabul Art Projct through Germany. His unique technique was featured in a short documentary on BBC.
